Who we are
Since 1986, the New Hampshire Horse Council (NHHC) has represented the interests of New Hampshire’s diverse horse industry. Through education, advocacy, and coalition building, we support the health, safety, and welfare of all equines in our state, and work to protect the interests of equine enthusiasts.
NHHC is a registered 501(c)5 non-profit. Donations to NHHC are not tax-deductible.

Meet the Officers and Board Members of NHHC
PRESIDENT
Christina Keim (Strafford County, NH)
Why I volunteer with NHHC: State horse councils like NHHC play an important role in advocating for equestrian activities to stakeholders who often do not understand our unique needs and concerns. Our job is to unite equestrians of all kinds to protect our industry’s interests. Through my work with NHHC, I seek to advocate for, protect, and promote our state’s equine industry, and provide resources and support to individuals and groups.

Frederick Klein-McNeil (Rockingham County, NH)
Why I volunteer with NHHC: I became involved in the NHHC in early 2020 through friends who were assisting my partner and I in learning the trails and state parks, and meeting fellow equestrians in the state. We immediately recognized the need to support NHHC due to its valuable work in education, trail management, and conservation and legislative initiatives. Through NHHC, I have made new friendships and connections throughout both the state of New Hampshire and the greater New England region. As we continue developing the organization, it is vital to infuse new volunteers, membership, and participation between other equine organizations, clubs, and disciplines.

Why I volunteer with NHHC: Although my residence is in Massachusetts on the NH state line, I have spent a good portion of my “horse” life in New Hampshire. I have enjoyed over 50 years riding, camping, trail exploring and running trail rides for my local NH horse club, and understand that if the equestrian experience and the system of trails are to be available for the future, then there needs to be workers involved in making that happen. I got involved with NHHC as a way to give back to the equestrian community in New Hampshire.

Joanna Bligh, (Grafton County, NH)
Why I volunteer with NHHC: When I moved to the Upper Valley of New Hampshire in 1999, I became aware that there are few safe and well managed trails for equestrians, especially carriage drivers, in this part of New Hampshire. When public meetings about expanding ATV trails in nearby towns were announced, I sought out representatives from NHHC to ask advice about how to find ways to advocate for equestrian use of these trails. Following those public meetings, I became a member of NHHC to have a bit more clout as an equestrian advocate at public meetings. Then, I volunteered to be a Board member because, after working for 15 years in advertising agencies, I was able to offer my marketing skills to promote NHHC to the equestrian community.

Debbie Briscoe, (Rockingham County, NH)
Why I volunteer with NHHC: I became involved with NHHC because it was the only organization structured where the equine community could come together and speak to benefit equine interests in unity. NHHC gave me the support to promote horse use in trail plans.
